Colorado is one of the mountain states of the United States, home to the tallest peak of the Rocky Mountains — Mount Elbert. The mountains are central to Colorado's identity: a blend of natural history, cultural heritage and modern values, a place of inspiration and spiritual renewal. Climbing them is seen as a metaphor for growth.
I go by the nickname Colorado because, as a young Maasai man from a traditional community, I carry that same identity — reflection, cultural heritage and modern growth. I have the Maasai spirituality, but dreams as big as the Rocky Mountains.
In my culture, wealth is traditionally measured by the number of livestock a person owns. Education is often seen as something distant, or less valuable. I believed something different. I believed education could change lives, so I chose a new path — studying tourism and starting my own company.
Colorado Tanzania Safaris is the result. Every traveller we host helps a Maasai boy's dream continue to climb.
